Boomer Yoga with Nancy Garnhart is an enjoyable experience. I had not practiced yoga for decades and was hesitant about joining a class. Nancy welcomed me and has made this class such a positive experience with her expertise, her humor, her kind manner, and her focus on each individual’s potential. She corrects our postures to make sure each of us receives maximum benefit without harming ourselves. Each class member is always encouraged by Nancy to do as much or as little as he/she can do, and this encouragement has led me to feel confident in my practice of yoga. I am certainly glad that I made the decision to attend Boomer Yoga.
Nancy has been teaching yoga since 2005. She first started a serious yoga practice to ease the stress of parenting three young children, running a household and being a full time graduate student. Yoga brought the craziness in her head down to a dull roar and helped to cultivate a sense of calm empowerment in her life. Back pain that had often prevented her from enjoying life disappeared. Nancy uses the practice of yoga in all areas of her life. She endeavors to be mindful and compassionate whether she is teaching yoga, walking in the woods, spending time with family, or gardening.
Nancy is a 500 hour graduate of The Hard & The Soft Yoga Institute with Beryl Bender Birch, a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, and a certified Yoga Therapist with IAYT. She enjoys adapting yoga to fit the students, not the students to fit yoga. She especially loves to teach brand new beginner classes, classes for “Boomers” and a weekly free yoga class for veterans.
