According to a recent Yoga Alliance and Yoga Journal report on Yoga in America, almost 40% of the 37 million people practicing yoga in the United States are over the age of 50. Many yoga teachers find themselves unsure how to lead classes appropriate to the varied levels of physical fitness and yoga experience within this population. Or they feel intimidated when they are told they need to learn about all the possible physical issues more common in the senior population:  osteoporosis, arthritis, COPD or CAD.
